Last year, 789 million print books were sold in the USA. That's a 22 percent increase from 2004 when 648 million print books were sold. However, the record was set in the pandemic year of 2021 when a total of 843 million were sold.

Between 2008 and 2012, sales decreased by over 20 percent, but since then, print books have made a comeback.

Meanwhile, audiobooks are rapidly increasing in popularity. Revenues have increased by over 200 percent since 2015, and the number of audiobooks published each year has risen from 7,000 ten years ago to over 70,000 now.

In Europe too, revenues from audiobooks are growing, with an annual growth of nearly 20 percent.

However, revenues from ebooks have decreased by about 7 percent in the last five years.
