More than 15,000 of the agencies reported through the National Incident-Based Reporting System (NIBRS), which collects detailed information on each individual crime. These agencies cover nearly 90 percent of the population. Nearly 500 more agencies used NIBRS in 2025 compared to the year before.

The data are preliminary and may be revised before the full report later this year.
