π Sam Altmanβs favorite book
Last Thursday, OpenAIβs CEO Sam Altman was honored in Germany. He was interviewed by Axel Springerβs CEO, Mathias DΓΆpfner, who asked why his favorite book is The Beginning of Infinity by David Deutsch.
Sam Altman replied:
"The first 40 or 50 pages are, I think, the most wonderfully optimistic take on why, even in a world with AI, weβre never going to run out of things to do, ways to be useful, problems to solve, and things to explore. I also think they so beautifully explain how we got here, and why the relatively simple process weβve followed throughout human history brought us to this incredible place."
The audio in the recording was a bit poor, which someone fixed using AI. As a result, the video feels slightly artificial.
I agree with Sam. The Beginning of Infinity is the best book Iβve ever read.
