πŸ”‹ Another revolution?

Jonas Birgersson made history when he, in 1999, signed a deal with HSB to offer broadband to their 350,000 apartments. That was the starting point for the Swedish broadband expansion, which became the fastest in the world.

Now, he has done it again. A couple of weeks ago, his ViaEuropa signed a deal with Sweden's Public Utility. A concept for the energy society is to be developed and offered to the over 300 property owners who are part of the public housing sector. Together, they have 20 percent of Swedish apartments.

In 1999, he and the deal received enormous attention. Now, the energy society is largely flying under the radar. The energy debate is buried in trenches between different types of energy production.

That's why I'm glad to be able to tell the story to you here.

It begins, for me, in the summer of 2022, when I drove to Lund for a long talk with Jonas. We talked about what had happened in the 90s, but also about the future. It was then he mentioned it, the energy society.

If successful here in Sweden, the energy society will expand to many parts of the world.

πŸ”‹ Towards the energy society – part 1

Warp Institute is part of the Project Energy Society, and I've seen it develop rapidly over the past almost two years.
